Julia Rosalee Cook, 92, of Atlantic, Iowa, was called home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Rosalee passed away at Heritage House in Atlantic, where she had been a resident since December, 2023.

She was born on November 20, 1933, to Virgil Dana and Flossie Mae (Reynolds) Foy, in Griswold, Iowa. She attended and graduated with honors from Griswold High School in 1951. Rosalee was united in marriage to Darrell E. Cook on June 10, 1953, in Griswold. Four children were born to this union: Diane, Denise, Jim, and Jeff. She supported her husband, Darrell, in his various business ventures, and her early working years consisted of working at Publishers News and Home Health Care. A lifelong dream of Rosalee's was to attend nursing school, so in 1979, and after her children were raised, Rosalee attended Licensed Practical Nursing classes at Iowa Western Community College. In 1981, she obtained her LPN license and began her career at Cass County Memorial Hospital and later worked in Home Health Care. She retired from the CCMH in 1998, and continued to volunteer at the hospital. With Rosalee's kind and compassionate heart, she was dedicated to caring for others.

Growing up with a grandmother in the home taught Rosalee to enjoy playing cards. For many years, she and her children and grandchildren enjoyed card games at family gatherings and holidays.

She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church, and served as choir director, Sunday School teacher, and made prayer shawls for those in need. Rosalee was committed to raising her children in the church. Rosalee lived her life in service and sacrifice through her unwavering faith and love for her family. We will forever be thankful for her example of unconditional love.

Surviving Rosalee are her two daughters, Diane J. Schnare and her husband, Reverend Martin T. Schnare of Hamel IL and Denise E. Sharp and her husband, Dr. Robert H. Sharp of Atlantic; two sons, James D. Cook and his wife, Shari Lee Cook of Soddy Daisy, TN and Jeffrey E. Cook of Waukee, IA; nine grandchildren, Zach Schnare (Dawn), Leah Sherman (Travis), Katie Mason (Logan), Kelsi Shields (Andrew), Garrett Cook (Catherine), Laura Cook, Michael Cook (Maci), Chelsea Ouverson (Casey) and Morgan Rinker (Austin), 28 great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Donna Harms of Griswold, Marilyn Weber of Georgia and Karen Theulen (Lenny) of Atlantic.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell; brothers, Harold Foy, Richard Foy and Maurice Foy; sisters, Pinky Bierbaum, Irene Pontow and Joanne Kinzer; sisters-in-law, Velma Wheeler, Betty Glissmann, Norma Vollmuth and Talena Wheatley; and brothers-in-law, Ernest Cook, Cleo Cook, Robert Cook and Donald Cook.

Visitation with the family present will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 7th at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Kyle McBee officiating. During the service a special tribute will be given by the Cass Health Nurses Honor Guard. The service will be recorded and available on the funeral home website by end of day Tuesday.

Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
