Randy Frazier, Sr., 62, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at his home.
Randy Ray was born on June 16, 1964, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Dell Alvin and Betty Lou (Vaughn) Frazier. In his childhood he lived various places while his dad worked construction, but spent the most time in the DeSoto and Adel area. It was obvious early on that he was going to live his life as a free spirit, a rebel you might say; he said what he thought and did it his way.
At 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and after bootcamp served with the Iowa Army National Guard for 6 years.
On June 18, 1982, he was united in marriage to Debbie Sue Russell in Panora, Iowa. The couple lived and started their family in Linden, Iowa, they then lived in Missouri for a short time before making Atlantic their home. The kids looked forward to their Dad taking time off work to be home so they could go camping and to Adventureland.
Randy was an over the road truck driver for over 25 years, and worked for R&M Enterprises in Gretna, NE, Gene Fenton in Audubon, Iowa, Hills Bros in Omaha, NE, and most recently Richter & Sons Towing in Atlantic. Through the years he received many awards for his safe driving. He loved trucking (but not the paperwork that came with it) it was his escape! When he wasn’t behind the wheel he was watching shows about trucking on TV. Randy loved seeing all the different places and trying new restaurants along the way. With all the miles he put on he was the family’s own personal GPS; he knew how to get anywhere you needed to go. His CB handles were Rudolph and Rooster.
In 2015, he retired due to his declining health and this was tough on him, in his eyes he had lost part of his freedom, the feeling that trucking brought him.
He looked forward to spending time with family, even though sometimes he had to be bribed with what meal was being served; if Debbie went, he went. It was hard to tell most of the time if he was telling the truth or just joking; he liked to get you all worked up and then say, “Just Kidding!” Randy collected tools; the only brand allowed being Craftsman. He was very particular about how they were organized and didn’t want anyone messing with them or borrowing.
Randy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debbie; children, Christina Russell, Melinda Frazier, Randy Frazier, Jr., Nathan Frazier and Brittany Frazier; grandchildren, Codi, Jordan (Nessa), Avalon, Jolena, Milen, Brooklynn and Brinsley; great-grandchildren, Maverick, Wylie and Dahlia; siblings, Brenda Martinez and Delbert Frazier; mother-in-law, Ruby Russell; and many extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dell and Betty Frazier; brothers, Billy Jo Frazier and Chancey Frazier; and father-in-law, John Russell.
The family will host a private Celebration of Life Gathering.
Roland Funeral Service is caring for Randy's family and his arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.rolandfuneralservice.com.
