Listen to Obituary

Ramona Knop, 94, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Cass Health in Atlantic.

Ramona Marie (Frank) Knop was born December 27, 1931, to Gottlieb and Mary (Wohlenhaus) Frank on the family farm East of Lyman, Iowa. After growing up on the farm and graduating from Massena High School in 1949, Ramona worked in various jobs around the Cumberland/Massena area including the Cumberland Bank. Ramona married Stanley Lewis Knop at St. John’s Church south of Lyman on February 16, 1958. Together they farmed their land south of Atlantic while being blessed with a son, Mike, and daughter, Diane.

Ramona dedicated her life caring for the needs of others. Not only did she care for the needs of her immediate family members, she would work at Willow Heights for twenty- five years helping those with developmental disabilities and other needs. Her friendly and outgoing personality made her very easy to get along with and helped her when caring for those in need. She was simply loved by everyone she knew.

Ramona had a passion for watching the Iowa Hawkeye’s, especially women’s athletics. She also cooked up a storm and loved her pinochle card club when time allowed. She was especially proud of her collection of Cardinal figurines. But without question, her greatest love was raising her two children and spending time with her triplet grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ramona is survived by her daughter, Diane (Dave) Probasco of Urbandale, Iowa; son, Mike Knop of Atlantic; grandchildren, Matthew (Kelsey) Probasco, Tyler (Kristin) Probasco, Megan (Justin) Lima; great-grandchildren, Jace, Bria, Caden, Collin, Everett, Lucas, Tate, Emerson and Brooke; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Knop; parents, Gottlieb and Mary Frank; in-laws, Albert and Elizabeth Knop; brother, Louis (Pauline) Frank; and sister, Elizabeth (Clair) Hines.
