Colleen Sunderman

Colleen Janice Sunderman, 94, of Atlantic, Iowa passed away on August 7, 2026, at Cass Health in Atlantic.

Colleen was born to Ray and Ella (Schaaf) Sunderman on October 30, 1931, in Cass County Iowa. She attended Griswold Public Schools and graduated from high school in 1951. Following graduation, she started working at the Pines Restaurant Atlantic, Iowa, owned by her uncle and aunt, Robert and Leona Auerbach. Colleen worked there for 50 years.

Colleen was a 50-year member of First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic, Iowa. Colleen loved traveling, reading, attending craft events and spending time with her family and friends.

Colleen is survived by her niece, Vicki Lassen Kyle of Savannah, Missouri; great-nephew, Marcus McKinnon (Kimi) of Havertown, Pennsylvania; great-niece, Lindsey Berry of Denver, Colorado; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Matthew, Willow and Skyla McKinnon of Havertown, Pennsylvania, Kaylyn McKinnon and Karlee Fletcher of Kansas City, MO, and Cayden Fletcher of Cameron, MO.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother; sister and brother-in-law LuElla and Bill Lassen; niece, Terri Lassen Berry; uncle and aunt, Robert and Leona Auerbach; great-nephew Jeremy McKinnon; great-great nephew, Michael McKinnon; and many cousins.

A private family memorial goodbye in the Atlantic Cemetery will be planned by the family.
