JOHN L. MUNDORF John L. Mundorf, 72, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Elk Horn Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa. John Logan Mundorf was born the son of Clayton S. and Alice Virginia (Porter) Mundorf, on March 9, 1935, northwest of Lewis, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Lewis and graduated with the Lewis Class of 1952. He farmed northwest of Lewis and later served as superintendent of Gus Construction. John was married to Marilyn Ruth Bees on April 18, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa. The couple’s life was brightened by five daughters. His family will remember John as a loving husband and dad. He enjoyed playing cards and loved hunting and horses when he was younger. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and attended their football games for many years, including several bowl games. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Mundorf of Lewis, Iowa, and their daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Lynn Dean and husband, Byron, of Griswold, IA, Julia Kay Westphalen and husband, Scott, of Brayton, IA, Janis Sue Anderson and husband, Scott, of Lewis, IA, Jamie Lee Juhl and husband, Richard, of Lewis and Jeanene Marie Christian and husband, Steve, of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, Heather Dollen and husband, Todd, of Elliott, Becky Brockman and husband, Jeff, of Elliott, Samantha Schwenneker and husband, Brent, of Ankeny, IA, Michael Anderson and wife, Aimee, of Villisca, Kayleigh Juhl and Kasey Juhl of Lewis, Hannah Christian and Emma Christian of Omaha, NE; four great grandchildren, Austin Dollen, Alex Dollen, Grayden Brockman and Chloe Brockman; one brother, Clayton Robert “Bob” and his wife, Jean Mundorf, of Vancouver, WA, one sister, Lila Kunze, of Lewis, a sister-in-law, Jackie Mundorf of Swisher, IA, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, a daughter, Kristy Ann (in infancy in 1959), a granddaughter, Melissa, in 2001, one brother, James Mundorf, and a brother-in-law, Roderick Kunze.
