Local Grief
Support
At no charge, Roland Funeral
Home offers local grief support to both those families who have utilized our
services as well as others who have this need.
Our Grief Support presently
meets on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at the old Roland Family Home
located at 1011 East 10th Street in Atlantic. Occasionally the group
gathers in the upstairs apartment of our funeral home located
at 204 East 5th Street in Atlantic.
Warren and Amy
Roland, Buffy Barrs (daughter) and Mary Hoegh are currently guiding this group
through helpful GriefShare lessons. The study includes: 1) video
testimonials by those who have experienced the death of a loved one and ministry by
well-known counselors,
2) workbook discussions of "YOUR JOURNEY FROM MOURNING TO JOY" and 3) a
sharing time with group exchange.
We are sensitive to those who may be reserved or shy in sharing their
thoughts and feelings and strive to keep the atmosphere
comfortable. Refreshments are served during our time together.
Please contact us at (712) 243-5492 or toll-free, 877-243-5492 to make sure there
are no changes in our current time and location.
One-On-One Bereavement
Counseling
We are pleased to offer
one-on-one counseling with Amy Roland and rural Methodist minister Dick
Krambeck. They provide caring, individualized grief support to help
through the process of mourning. Please call our funeral home at 243-5492 or
toll-free, 877-243-5492 for an appointment for the needs of you or someone
you know.
The Roland Lending
Library
The Roland lending library
has a wide variety of books and educational materials dealing with death of a
child, spouse, parent and other grief-healing related topics. The public
is encouraged to come in to browse and check out these resources during the weekday
business hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Group
Events
Besides our regular weekly
meetings held on Tuesday afternoons, we offer a picnic and a fireside potluck
gathering of past and current support friends periodically. If there is an
interest in joining us, we would love to have you visit and bring someone
along.
